We made updates to several default widgets this week. If you customized any of these widgets and want to update them, you can find the latest code in the corresponding default widget. Please remember that if you have a custom version of any of these widgets, the latest updates will not be pushed to your website.



Admin Design

  • Released a redesigned Member Reviews page. Admins can now search and filter reviews by keyword, date, status and rating, change the status of several reviews at once, open any review in a side panel to edit it, and export the results or save them as a Smart List.

  • Released a redesigned Post Comments page and Comment Settings page. Admins can now search comments by text, date, post type, status and rating, open a comment in a side panel to see its full thread, edit its text and rating, and publish, hold or decline it. In addition, a comment now keeps its original submitted date when its status changes.
  • Released a redesigned Private Member Chats page. Admins can now filter chats by status and date, search by member, read a conversation and its images in a side panel, and mark it Active, Closed or Reported. Additionally, the link in a reported-chat email now opens that chat directly.
  • Released a redesigned Member Leads page, with Match Leads and Lead Settings now opening as side panels on the same page. Admins can now search and filter leads, update several leads at once, add, edit or clone a lead, and see each lead's matches on a map with their distances. In addition, leads marked Closed, Bad Lead or Deleted now keep their status when they are matched or accepted.

  • Improved the Activity Tracker details panel so each changed field is shown on its own lines with its previous and new value. In addition, the page can now be opened from a link with a keyword search already applied.

Domain Manager

  • Released a new My WordPress website option in Change Domain that shows the directory inside an existing WordPress website, for example at www.mybusiness.com/directory, through the BD Reverse Proxy plugin. The Admin enters the WordPress address, receives a license key and the plugin download, and the connection is shown as Connected once the plugin is set up.
  • Fixed an issue that caused the webmail link in a mailbox's Set up panel to show a certificate warning on some websites.
  • Fixed an issue that prevented the SPF advice on the Emails tab from flagging an unneeded entry on domains behind the Cloudflare proxy. The advice now also names which lines of the record are not needed.

Admin Access & Security

  • Strengthened how the Admin confirms who is signed in, so only genuine, signed-in Admin sessions are accepted.
  • Improved adding and editing Admin accounts so invalid email addresses are refused and Admin names are always displayed as plain text.
  • Updated the JavaScript library used on the Admin login page to a current version, clearing known security advisories.
  • Improved two-factor sign-in so each code emailed to an Admin can be used only once.
  • Improved how the website serves its public files, so only images, scripts, styles and other intended files can be downloaded and anything else is reported as not found.
  • Improved support ticket attachments so script and program files are refused with a clear message, while screenshots and documents still attach as before.
  • Strengthened the checks on order and invoice numbers in the Admin billing actions, including refunds, so only valid values are processed.
  • Fixed an issue that prevented the Activity Tracker from recording when an invited Admin accepted the invitation or when an Admin's role was changed.
  • Fixed an issue that allowed a legacy layout maintenance action in Design Settings to be run from a website's Admin. It is now reserved for the platform team.
  • Fixed an issue that allowed images to be uploaded, browsed, listed or deleted through the Froala Editor without signing in. These actions now require a signed-in Admin or member, and members can only work with their own images.

  • Fixed an issue that caused Stripe connection details to be written to the Debugger log during card payments. Those details are now left out of the log.


Developer Hub & API

  • Fixed an issue that caused updating a sub-account through the API to detach it from its parent account and replace its email address with the parent's. In addition, creating a sub-account now returns the new sub-account's details instead of the parent's.
  • Fixed an issue that prevented a category or sub-category description from being saved when it was updated through the API, even though the request reported success.
  • Fixed an issue that prevented the API request log from removing entries older than 60 days.
  • Fixed an issue that caused the Activity Tracker to report a webhook as successful even when the receiving server rejected it. Each entry now shows the response status and a Success or Failed result.
  • Fixed an issue that prevented actions performed in the Admin from being recorded in the website's Debugger log.
  • Fixed an issue that prevented the Brilliant Directories MCP server from creating widgets when a software version was included. The version is now set automatically.

Site Speed & Performance

  • Improved the speed of several Admin pages on websites with very large amounts of data. The broken links view of 301 Redirects now loads in seconds instead of minutes, and the Activity Tracker, Widget Manager, Text Labels and the reviews export also load faster. In addition, Advanced Settings now offers a searchable page list on websites with more than 500 web pages.
  • Improved the speed of member searches by location on websites with a very large number of members, both on the public search results and in Find Matches. Results and their order are unchanged.

  • Improved the loading speed of the Dynamic Filtering search sidebar on websites with a very large number of members when categories without members are hidden.
  • Improved the AI Companion so a slow search on a large website now stops after a few seconds and asks the Admin to be more specific.
  • Fixed an issue that caused the Advanced Settings page to load blank on websites with a large number of web pages.

Members & Accounts

  • Fixed an issue that allowed a member's profile statistics to be viewed by someone other than that member.
  • Fixed an issue that caused a link to a deleted file to remain saved after the file was removed from a File field with Remove File.
  • Fixed an issue that caused a city to be saved with an empty name on the Service Areas page in some cases. Additionally, the clear (X) icon in location fields now empties the field.

Sign Up & Leads

  • Strengthened the reCAPTCHA protection on the member sign-up and login forms so it can no longer be skipped.

  • Fixed an issue that caused the "Register New Account" form in the Save and Send Message popup to stay on "Processing Request..." indefinitely. Additionally, a contact form sent from a post page is no longer counted twice in the member's statistics.
  • Fixed an issue that caused custom code running after a sign-up or login to fail with a secure connection error in some cases.

Checkout & Billing

  • Fixed an issue that prevented paid sign-ups from completing after a Razorpay payment when reCAPTCHA was enabled.
  • Fixed an issue that caused Stop This Payment in Transaction History to report an invoice as cancelled when the billing system refused the change, and that allowed an invoice that was already paid to be cancelled.
  • Fixed an issue that displayed the billing section and the Name on Card field at sign-up for free trials set to not require a credit card.

Imports & Exports

  • Fixed an issue that allowed the Business Data member import actions to be run without signing in to the Admin. They are now limited to Admins and the website's own import process, and no longer return member account details.
  • Fixed an issue that caused a small number of members imported through Business Data to be created without the details their login and claim-listing links depend on.
  • Fixed an issue that caused the "+" character to be replaced with a space in exported CSV files, for example in email addresses and phone numbers. In addition, two internal columns were removed from the Member Leads export.

Sitemaps & SEO

  • Improved the Sitemap Generator so member search pages that point search engines to a shorter address are left out of the sitemap when the related canonical settings are turned on. These pages are now listed as Excluded, with a link to the setting.
  • Improved the Sitemap Generator so post type pages with no posts, and the Member Reviews page when it has no reviews, are left out of the sitemap until there is something to show.

Websites & Hosting

  • Fixed an issue that prevented the Enhanced Hosting AI crawler section from being added to a website's robots.txt when the file already mentioned OpenAI's search crawler.
  • Fixed an issue that caused the website to silently discard some of the files it writes when their content ended in something that looked like a web address, which in some cases stopped outgoing emails from being sent.

Form Manager

  • Fixed an issue that caused the New Form window to open blank in some cases, which prevented Admins from creating a form.
  • Fixed an issue that caused the form preview in the Form Builder to stay blank in some cases on forms with many fields.

Posts, Comments & Events

  • Improved the message shown when a member saves a post or photo album so it states whether the post was published, saved as a draft or sent for approval.

  • Fixed an issue that displayed the "Most Replies" comment sort option in lowercase.

Web Pages

  • Fixed an issue that caused the automatic draft saved while editing a web page to remove embedded videos and some layout elements, which were then lost when the page was saved.

  • Fixed an issue that caused a keyword search in Email Templates to show default templates in other languages.
