The Available Upgrade Options settings allow full control over which membership plans appear on the Upgrade/Downgrade page for each member. This guide outlines the steps to enable and configure these settings within a Brilliant Directories website. 


How to Activate the "Available Upgrade Options" Settings

Follow these steps:

1. Go to the Membership Plans Section

  • Navigate to Finance » Membership Plans.

  • Click Edit on the membership plan that requires configuration. 





2. Open the Sign Ups & Upgrades Tab

  • Click on the Sign Ups & Upgrades tab.

  • Scroll down to find the section titled Change Plan – Upgrade/Downgrade Settings.




Configuration Options


Scroll down in the settings area, to  find the following options:



1. Upgrade Email Sent

Choose an email template to send to members after they upgrade to this membership plan.

Additional Option:

  • Send Copy of Email to Default Website Email Address
    If checked (default), the system sends a copy of the upgrade email to the site admin.


Email Template Recommendations:

  • Upgrade Email (Template: upgrade-response)
    Use when upgrading from a lower-tier plan.

  • Downgrade Email (Template: downgrade-response)
    Use when moving to a lower-tier plan, especially from the highest-tier plan.

  • Generic Template
    Create a neutral template if this plan is both an upgrade and downgrade option. This keeps the message relevant regardless of direction.


2. After Upgrading to This Plan, Set Account Status As

Choose what the member’s status will be immediately after upgrading:

  • Active Account
    Member becomes active and visible on the site.

  • Inactive Account
    Member remains inactive and hidden from the site.

  • Same Status Before Upgrading
    Member retains the status they had before the upgrade.

  • On Hold, Requires Admin Approval
    Member is on hold until manually approved by the admin.


3. Available Upgrade Options

This is the key setting to control which plans members can upgrade or downgrade to.

  • Available Plans
    Select the membership plans that should appear as upgrade/downgrade options.

  • Pre-Selected Plan
    Choose one plan to appear as the preferred upgrade option.

  • Display Order
    Choose the order in which plans appear on the upgrade page.






4. Upgrade Page Header Content

Enter a custom message or instruction that will appear above the upgrade options on the member’s Upgrade page.




5. Description Why Members Should Upgrade to This Level

Add a description that explains the benefits of upgrading to this plan. This description will only be visible to members who are eligible to upgrade to this plan — not to those who are already on it.



? Note: This message will not display for members already in the plan.

 

This description will not display for the members who are in Plan 1.



Additional Notes

  • Membership plans with the Account Type: "Claim" do not allow plan changes until the listing is claimed by a member.
